Hazardous Materials Operations
Program Description
NIPSTA’s Hazardous Materials First Responder - Operations program is designed to exceed the requirements outlined by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal “OSFM”, and provides students with the basic knowledge and skills needed to respond to hazardous materials/weapons of mass destruction “WMD” incidents for the purpose of implementing or supporting actions to protect nearby persons, the environment, or property from the effects of a hazardous material release. The curriculum is designed to fulfill the standards as set forth by NFPA 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 2013 Edition, and as outlined by the Code of Federal Regulations “CFR” 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) Standards.

Cancellation Policy
Notice of cancellation must be received in writing by email to NIPSTA at least two (2) weeks prior to the first day of the scheduled training program. Email Patrick Jessee (hazmat@nipsta.org) to cancel.
If notice of cancellation is not received by NIPSTA within two weeks of the scheduled training program, then 100% of the tuition fee shall be due and payable to NIPSTA.
NIPSTA reserves the right to cancel a course. Notice of cancellation will be provided to students at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of the program. Cancellations with less than seven (7) days' notice will only be in the event of an emergency.
