Advanced Fire Officer
Course Description
NIPSTA’s Advanced Fire Officer program is designed to exceed the requirements outlined by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal ("OSFM"), and provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform as an Advanced Fire Officer, as defined by NFPA 1021. This program is presented in two (2) phases and must be taken consecutively:
Phase I: Forty (40) hours of online education, completed over four (4) consecutive weeks.
Phase II: Eighty (80) hours of campus based lectures, discussions and exercises. Completed over two (2) consecutive weeks.

As recommended by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, the following textbook is required for NIPSTA’s Company Fire Officer Program.

In order to participate in the forty hour online education portion, all students must purchase a textbook and set up a Navigate2 account so they can be entered into the class.
