The Office of the State Fire Marshal has announced that this certification is “highly recommended” to all departments in Illinois. The training is designed to provide fire service personnel with basic knowledge and skills to safely perform fire service vehicle operations as defined by NFPA 1002 (1998) and NFPA 1451 (2002).

On Day 2 only, each student must bring the vehicle to which he/she is assigned in his/her employment. No more than 2 students per department per vehicle.
