Evidence Photography Training

This fall, NIPSTA has scheduled two unique programs specifically designed to develop the photography skills of incident scene investigators.  Training at both the basic level and advanced level of Evidence Photography for the Incident Scene is available on the NIPSTA Campus for fire and law enforcement personnel.

This training provides emergency responders with the knowledge necessary to apply proper photography techniques in challenging and unusual situations.  Both sessions are three days in length, thereby providing participants with the opportunity to review their work after next-day photo processing.

Class sizes are limited.  Register today:

Basic Evidence Photography – October 8-10, 2008

Advanced Evidence Photography – November 3-5, 2008

WMD Crime Scene Management

for Emergency Responders

This no-cost, one-day program offered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Center for Domestic Preparedness addresses phases and components of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive (CBRNE) crime scene.

The program provides emergency personnel with knowledge about how to implement proper procedures and guidelines in crime scene management in response to a CBRNE hazard incident.  Training topics include legal issues, federal statues, types of evidence, and collection techniques.

Additional Homeland Security

Training Dates Announced

New homeland security programs are now available during the third and fourth quarter of 2008.  Intermediate and Advanced Incident Command System (ICS) programs, and the Train-the-Trainer program, are ready for registration by police, fire/EMS, and public works personnel.  A cooperative effort involving NIPSTA, the Cook County Urban Area Security Initiative, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security makes possible the delivery of training at various suburban locations.

The audience for these sessions represents a cross-section of first responders and jurisdictions in the region.  To-date, more than 2,400 persons have received this training, which is necessary to satisfy federal government compliance requirements related to receipt of future emergency preparedness grant funds.  Click here to view the police training calendar.
