In addition, members have access to state-of-the-art facilities and specialized services - all in a training environment that is unlike any other in the region. There are two categories of NIPSTA membership:
Voting Member
Every municipality and fire protection district within the Chicago metropolitan area that provides life safety and protective services is eligible to be a "Voting Member" of the NIPSTA Board of Directors.
Participation shall be contingent upon the completion of a NIPSTA Voting Membership Application, the adoption of a Resolution Authorizing NIPSTA Membership, the execution of the NIPSTA Intergovernmental Agreement, Contract and Bylaws, and the payment of annual membership dues. New members are admitted upon the recommendation of the NIPSTA Executive Committee and approval by the NIPSTA Board of Directors.
Membership dues are assessed based upon the number of authorized sworn public safety personnel in the municipality or fire protection district. All employees, including non-sworn personnel, are eligible to receive the benefits of membership. The annual membership fee is assessed at a rate of $229 per authorized sworn public safety officer.
A municipality may join with only one public safety department and shall be assessed dues based only upon the total number of authorized sworn personnel in that department.
