Public Works Academy
Public Works Academy
After the first Public Works Academy in 2024, NIPSTA is excited to bring in 2026 to the Public Works Sector three (3) 40-hour Public Works Academy that will provide new public works employees with a solid foundation to begin their career. This Academy would also be appropriate for employees up to five years on the job.
The NIPSTA Public Works Committee, in collaboration with the IRMA Public Works Steering Committee, has developed this 5-day program based on feedback from the public works community. NIPSTA has partnered with Elevated Safety LLC and Titan Safety Management, Inc to provide basic training and education on a wide range of topics such as Flagger, Fall Protection, Trench/Shoring and Confined Space (see tentative schedule below for the full list of courses). On the last day, attendees will also learn why Public Works employees are considered First Responders and be taught crucial medical skills through the NAEMT’s First on the Scene Program™. Students, who attend all 5 days of training, will receive a certificate of completion following successful completion of the Academy.
